Welcome to JMS Artisan Ceramics! I started this artisan studio as an ICU nurse during the COVIC19 pandemic. As I battled the heartbreaking care of dozens of patients infected with COVID, far too many of whom died before we had effective treatments and vaccines, I found myself struggling to find peace or reason, or comfort. During this time, my beautiful partner gifted me with a pottery wheel throwing class and I was completely hooked from the moment my hands touched the clay. Though I didn't realize it then, I had also found a way to emotionally balance the terrible loss I was a first hand witness to; namely, the creation of something from literal dirt that could be loved and appreciated and enjoyed by those who used it. With that in mind as I sit at the potters wheel, each piece is crafted, created, and curated as a testament to the incredible, indefatigable spirit of humanity and represents a counterpoint of creation to the devastating loss of the pandemic. Designed with both function and form in mind, you can be assured that each bespoke piece will compliment your home with warmth, sincerity, and happiness.
